Blackberry New Update For Priv And DTEK50 Fixes QuadRooter Vulnerabilities

We recently published here on this blog about the new malware that was discovered by researchers at Checkpoint. The malware is called QuadRooter which has infected over 900million Android devices.

Well, Blackberry has been informed about the trending malware -QuadRooter- and released a Security updates fixing the vulnerabilities. This update is been released to both Blackberry's current Android OS phones which are Priv and DTEK50.

This is what Blackberry has to say about the new updates;
Three of the four vulnerabilities have already been fixed on PRIV devices with the August Marshmallow patch and on all DTEK50 devices. In addition, the secure boot chain present in all BlackBerry devices naturally mitigates the remaining issue. We’re not aware of any exploits for this vulnerability in the wild, and we don’t think any of our customers are currently at risk from this issue. This is a great example of how our Android platform hardening proactively protects against issues that haven’t even been discovered yet…

As we all know, Blackberry has stopped manufacturing device running on Blackberry OS which includes BB10 devices. Blackberry is now focused on Blackberry Android OS smartphones. Blackberry is setting its Android OS smartphones as the most secured Android phones in the market today.

Hmm, the future of Blackberry is really Android OS.
